Every trip is different, but here is our basic list for packing. Of course, make the necessary additions and substitutions as needed. Please note that while you have personal gear (clothing, etc.), other gear can be split between you and your partner(s) (e.g. tent).
The recommended numbers of objects is based on a 5 to 7 day trail. Though honestly, if you are going longer, you are still going to want to keep your pack light. Always pack as minimully as you can, while still being prepared for all situations and conditions.
General Gear

- Compass/GPS
- First Aid Kit
- Fire starter: matches/stone/etc.
- Water bottles/packs
- Flashlight/head lamp
- Tent
- Tent repair kit
- Sleeping bag
- Sleeping pad (optional)
- Water purification filter/tablets
- 50 feet of rope – emergency
- Batteries (backup for headlamps, etc.)
